  • Mr. Nguy co-founded Income Partners with Mr. Francis Tjia in 1993, and is:

  • A visionary who established Income Partners as the first dedicated Asian fixed income asset manager.
  • He is responsible for business management, new product development, asset allocation across Liquid Strategies and macro risk management.
  • Mr. Nguy has >24-years of investment management experience beginning in 1987.  He has an exceptional track record achieving long-term value creation for his clients across asset classes. Mr. Nguy is particularly adept at maneuvering successfully through periods of economic uncertainty and stress to protect client capital.  He is known for his ability to interpret market signals and analyze macro-economic data to position investments for out-performance.
  • Mr. Nguy began his professional career in Canada in 1984.  He returned to Hong Kong in 1987 to join Indosuez Asia Investment Management where he managed several funds including the “Asian Income Fund” and highly successful “Malacca Fund”.  This experience sharpened his fixed income and macro-economic skills, as well it provided him with a platform to develop his abilities to create, launch and manage successful investment funds, a pre-cursor to the founding of Income Partners.
  • In 1990, Mr. Nguy established Lippo Investments in Hong Kong and Jakarta on behalf of Indonesia’s Lippo Group.  This experience not only honed his entrepreneurial business acumen and ability to develop successful client focused investment products, but it led to the historic meeting of Mr. Tjia, who joined him at Lippo in 1991.
  • Income Partners Asset Management (Asia) Limited was founded in 1993 with Mr. Tjia and the support of Banque Privee Edmond de Rothschild and Lloyd George Management (as minority strategic investors).
  • Mr. Nguy graduated with an MBA, an MSc in Civil Engineering and a BEng in Civil Engineering all from McGill University.

Francis Tjia

  • Mr. Tjia co-founded Income Partners with Mr. Emil Nguy in 1993, and is:

  • He is responsible for product development, marketing and client management, Illiquid Portfolio Strategies and risk management.
  • Mr. Tjia has >21-years of investment management experience beginning in 1990, with a solid track record achieving long-term value creation for his clients across both liquid and illiquid asset classes.
  • Mr. Tjia believes in partnering with clients and aligned the firm’s interests with that of our clients.  He has been instrumental in the development of both liquid & illiquid fund strategies centered around client income generation and capital preservation.  He is known for his ability to interpret market signals and analyze macro-economic data to position investments for out-performance.
  • He launched his investment career in 1987 in Canada and moved to Hong Kong in 1990 to join Thornton Management (Asia) Limited (now Allianz Global Investors).  Mr. Tjia started his career as an equity fund manager but has significantly broadened his investment expertise across multiple asset classes including becoming a specialist in private capital strategies for our clients.
  • In 1991, Mr. Tjia moved to Jakarta to join Mr. Nguy in the establishment of Lippo Investments, one of Indonesia’s first domestic fund management companies.
  • Income Partners Asset Management (Asia) Limited was founded in 1993 with Mr. Nguy and the support of Banque Privee Edmond de Rothschild and Lloyd George Management (as minority strategic investors).
  • Mr. Tjia  launched the first electronic bond trading platform in Asia, www.AsiaBondPortal.com in 1999, which was subsequently sold to the HSBC-led BondsinAsia platform in 2002.
  • Mr. Tjia graduated from Boston University with both an MBA in Finance & International Economics and an MA in Economics.  He also graduated with a BA in Economics from the University of British Columbia.
